The name of this apple, EverCrisp, really says it all: It’s a rosy red apple that’s crispy and juicy. It’s a late-season apple, which means, it comes in late October through November and it works for storage – meaning you can eat it well into the winter.

So, how did the EverCrisp apple come to be?

It all started when Mitch Lynd of Lynd Fruit Farms in Pataskala, Ohio decided to come up with a new apple variety. Lynd and a few other growers (who would eventually turn into the Midwest Apple Improvement Association (or MAIA) decided to produce an apple that would store well but still be the fresh, delicious fruit people craved.

They went through lots of experimental seedlings but in 2008, David Doud of Countyline Orchard in Roann, Indiana thought he found the winner. And thus, the EverCrisp apple was born.

It started being sold to families like yours in 2016 and its currently grown in more than 300 orchards in more than 30 states.

The EverCrisp is a hybrid of the Fuji and Honeycrisp apples, which gives it the pleasant crunch and burst of sweetness. It can last months in cold storage and then weeks in your refrigerator – while never sacrificing taste or texture.
